I like herbal essences but i want other opinions?

no crazy salon products..What is a cheap brand of shampoo and conditioner i can find at Target that works?
I use the Aussie products. Works wonderfullyWhat is a cheap brand of shampoo and conditioner i can find at Target that works?
Honestly it all depends on the texture of your hair and the condition it's currently in. For example damaged hair needs a conditioner with protein in them while healthy hair gets hard and crunchy with protein products. And curly hair benefits from sulfate-free products.

I would say focus less on brand names and more on ingredients. Remember, the only place a product has to tell the truth is in the ingredient list:

biracialhair.org has a great ingredient dictionary. Find out what is harmful and what's not.

She recommends and I agree that Herbal Essences, Pantene, Suave, Clairol, and Organix are good.
I'm very cheap when it comes to this stuff... I buy Suave products. And they offer coupons a LOT! So it's not unusual for me to pay:

$1.00 for each bottle (shampoo and conditioner)

$1.00 off of two Suave products

That's .50 per bottle. Even my grocery store sells Suave stuff at under a buck sometimes.

As for soft and shiny, use a shampoo that is not clear (clear shampoos are detergent based and therefore harder on your hair).

But the real trick for shiny hair is to rinse, rinse and rinse again. Seriously, rinse your hair three times longer than you think you need to, and gradually cool down the water until it's as cool as you can stand it. The colder water makes the cuticle of the hair lay flat, and that's when your hair will be its shiniest (don't use a hot dryer -- let your hair air-dry as much as possible).

Good luck!

when you go cheap you get cheap.

Here's a break down for you.

You can get a bundle package 1 lt bottle of conditioner and shampoo for about $20 at a retail salon like the ones found in Walmart or master cuts. It will last you about 4 months, if you use it properly, Costing about $5.00 per month for a good quality product. Or you could spend $4.00 to $10 for something like Garnier Fructis or Pantene Pro V. for a shampoo and another $4 to $10 for the conditioner. Both of which will last about a month. For a cheap break down that's $8.00/mo for cheap or $5 for salon.

However, If you just can't do a salon product Aussie has a decent line of products. Cheap but... you get what you pay for.

I'm currently using Matrix Sleek look. (salon) I bought 4 months ago and still have half the 1 lt bottle left. I paid $20 for both condition and shampoo and it will last me close to 8 months and my husband uses it too. So 2 people are using the product. It's averaging me about $2.50 per month. My hair is wonderfully silky soft, shiney, and full. (no cold water, still blow dry and flat iron) People touch my hair and comment on how wonderful it feels.
I use either handmade shampoo bars or shampoos that are sulfate free, but for conditioner, my absolute favorite is L'oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss for medium to long hair that's curly/wavy. Long name, great stuff. It's silicone free (check the label though - rumor has it they are adding amodimethicone, although none of mine have it), thick and rich, and detangles like a dream.
Sunsilk is AMAZING
Pantene Smooth and Sleek. I used it all through middle school when my hair was really long.
garnier fructis
Pantene works the best for me
